Less than a year ago, Ole Miss fans rallied together and demanded progress in Ole Miss athletics. Your call has been answered, and, as such, Ole Miss supporters and Forward Rebels have happily stepped back into their rightful places as fans. In just a few short weeks, Athletic Director Ross Bjork has proven that he is the person to lead Ole Miss forward. We at Forward Rebels wholeheartedly offer our full support to Director Bjork in his efforts, and encourage all Ole Miss fans to do the same. It’s time.

Ole Miss is a special place, and the last year has shown that true Rebels are never out of the fight. Even as Ole Miss stumbled, you knew that Ole Miss could do better. As Jerrell Powe stated, you knew that Ole Miss was bigger than any one man, and you claimed your right as fans to demand accountability, integrity, progress, transparency, respect, excellence, and the kind of leadership that could unify this remarkably diverse community.

Athletic Director Bjork surpasses our highest hopes for those ideals, and it will be a pleasure to watch him resurrect the Rebel Nation. He has proven his commitment to leading with humility, recognizing that he, like each of us, is but a custodian dedicated in service to the greater good of Ole Miss. 

Ole Miss is a great public university, and she thrives when her leaders pursue Ole Miss over self. Leaders will come and go, but we will always be her stakeholders.

Moving forward, we join with this new administration and with all the varied fans to continue to seek greater unity, inclusion, and respect. Our athletes need the support of every Ole Miss fan, regardless of background or opinion. We need the support of the cap and t-shirt crowd and those who have worn the cap and gown.

Ole Miss fans are opinionated and prideful, and there will always be disagreements. But, as we agree on the fundamentals, we can respectfully disagree on other issues. That's the creed any family should live by. In any case, if you are an Ole Miss fan, you must agree to support our athletes.

And now, with strong leadership in place, fans can finally be assured that their emotional and financial investment in Ole Miss sports is well placed. Our athletic administration is now doing its part to lead, and we the fans are the fuel needed to drive our teams forward.

Ole Miss is on the right track again; therefore the mission of Forward Rebels is complete. We asked only that there be change and that Ole Miss find the best leadership possible. The kind that could make all of us proud. The kind we all deserve.

This is our final post. We were happy to join with all of you to help move Ole Miss forward, and we will be right beside you as she continues to grow.
